December 10, 2011 UPDATE ....
The
2012 calendar is
now available
October 30, 2011
Hello
Everyone,
I cannot
believe that it has been so long since I wrote an update. I apologize
for that as I know many of you would like to hear how Peter is doing
more frequently. The days go by & turn into weeks then months. What a
journey we have been on. I will tell you that he is still at home.
Since I last wrote this terrible illness has gotten more of a hold on
him & he is leaving slowly.
His
attention span is very short now about everything except for music. He
loves to hear music. His favorite is still Dixieland jazz & basically
anything from our era. He has more good days than bad & seems to be at
peace most of the time.
I wrote in
my last update that I would be letting some of his memorabilia go
but at
this point in time I still have not been able to get myself organized in
that space yet. When I do Warren will post it on the site for us.
I want to
thank the many of you who have sent him cards. I wish I could send all
of you thank you notes but there simply isn’t the time. Also your
continued support & caring thoughts through e-mails have meant so very
much to both Peter & myself.
Thank you
all very much,
Diane
PS. If you wish to send
Peter e-mails, please continue to do so, I will make sure they are
printed for his enjoyment.
Previous post from
summer 2010 :
I am writing this on behalf
of my husband Peter.
Unfortunately I have to tell
you that he is suffering from dementia.
We kept it covered up for a
very long time but now we are at a point where it is almost impossible
to do that. He has very little memory left now, he has no normal
speech, and he is losing his ability to write.
Amazingly he still reads
quite well. I print the e-mails that come to him and he gets a
great deal of pleasure from reading and re-reading them.
The good news is that he is
doing well physically. He has a good appetite, does not have to take a
lot of medication, and basically is content most of the time. He is
still at home with me and I am going to do my very best to keep him here
as long as possible.
I have asked our friend
Warren to change the “photos for sale” page on the site. It is
extremely frustrating for Peter to write now. Some days he is with
it and other days it is a real struggle. I would feel bad that folks
would get their photos and be disappointed with his signature so will no
longer be offering pictures signed by Peter.
I realize that at some point
in time our life is going to be going down a different path than where
we are now. Because of the situation that life has put me in I am
starting to downsize our belongings.
I have a lot of memorabilia
from Peter’s years as an actor. I am going to put it up for sale over
time. I have my personal memories that are dear to me that I could
never part with. However since we have no one to pass his memorabilia
to I feel that I would rather see it go to someone who has enjoyed his
work over the years. Warren will set up an “articles for sale” page.
As it changes I will notify by writing an update.
I have put together a package
of photos. Please check it out on the “pictures for sale” page.
I want you all to know how
much he has enjoyed being more connected to his fans through the website
– many thanks to Warren.
My thanks to all of you,
Diane Breck
